Carl was a three-sport athlete, excelling in football, wrestling and track. In football, Carl was a UPI coaches Poll All-State defensive tackle, a Hammond Times All-Region offensive lineman, a NW Indiana Catholic Alliance All N.I.C.A, offensive tackle, a Post Tribune All-Area offensive tackle and a Herald All-Area offensive and defensive tackle- the only player named to both offensive and defensive teams. Carl was voted captain during his senior year. He was also the 5th player in the history of Andrean High School to earn a varsity letter as a sophomore. Carl was also the captain of his wrestling team as well as a 3-year letter winner. In track, he holds the school record in the discus and was a 3-year letter winner in track as well. In 2006, Carl was inducted into the Andrean Hall of Fame.

Carl continued his football career at Butler University where he was a four-year scholarship athlete and a letterman. He graduated from Butler in 1983 with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting.
Carl's parents, Joe and Annette Allegretti reside in Crown Point, Indiana. Carl has been married to his wife, Tammy for 36 years. They have two sones, Joe and Nick. Joe, his wife Eugenia, and their son Carlo reside in Naperville, Illinois. Joe and Eugenia graduated from the University of Illinois in Urbana/Champaign. Joe is a CPA and an attorney who formerly worked at Deloitte and now works at Winston & Strawn after returning to school to obtain his law degree at the University of Notre Dame. Eugenia is a Manager and Operations Lead in Deloitte's Marketing Excellence group. Nick, his wife Christina and their two daughters, Elyse and Olivia reside in Downers Grove, Illinois and Aldie, Virginia. Nick and Christina also graduated from the University of Illinois. Nick is a current member of the Washington Commanders and a previous member of the Kansas City Chiefs (5 years) where he became a 3-time Super Bowl Champion. His wife Christina retired as a Consultant from Deloitte to become a stay-at-home mom to their twin girls who were born the morning of Superbowl 57. Carl has 2 brothers, Paul and Jim, both who played football at Andrean High School and Butler University.
Carl has over 40 years of expertise in financial services, executive leadership and organizational transformation. He is currently the Co-CEO of Arbor Investments, an industry leading food and beverage private equity firm with $4 billion in assets under management and over 5,500 employees across its portfolio of companies. He also serves as the President of the Greg and Francine Purcell Family Office. Prio to joining Arbor in 2020, Carl spent 18 years at Deloitte where he held the following roles: Chairman and CEO of Deloitte Tax LLP, Vice Chair of the US Board, Global Board Member and Chair of the Global Risk Committee, Chicago office Managing Partner, Managing Partner of Deloitte's Global Private Practice and Managing Partner of Deloitte's Canadian and Chilean Tax Practices. Carl began his career out of Butler University at Arthur Andersen where he worked his way up to the Partner in charge of their middle market Tax Practice.
With respect to Carl's community involvement, Carl was the Audit Committee Chairman of the Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital board of directors from 2018-2024, a board on which he is still an active member. he is also deeply involved in the National Football Foundation and College Football Hall of Fame. Carle was inducted into their Leadership Hall of Fame in 2022 and was the 13th member inducted along with others including Jerry Jones, George Pyne, Michael Bidwell, Arthur Blank, Casey Wasserman, Stephen Ross and Dean Spanos. He has been a member of the National Football Foundation's Board of Trustees since 2019 and has received an award for his contribution to amateur football within their Chicago Chapter. Carl is also a member of the American Youth Football Hall of Fame and a former USA Football board member.
Finally, is a fitness fanatic - and has successfully completed 70 marathons and 2 ultra-marathons, always as a part of fund-raising events that give back to the community. In 2024, Carl was the top fund-raiser for the Chicago Marathon, raising over 250,000 for PAWS, the Greater Chicago Food Depository and Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital.
