Received the Elkhart High School Bell Award for volunteer service and the Governor Orr Volunteer Participation Award in 1982; was a founder and motivating force of St. Joe Valley Chapter of the Indiana Football Hall of Fame; served as head of awards committee for boys (Bringle Award) and girls (Wolfe Award) basketball, tennis, cross country, golf, baseball, wrestling, and swimming for both Elkhart high schools; co-founder and vice-chairman for 10 years of the Russ Oliver Award Committee in South Bend for the St. Joe Valley Officials Association; supplied chain gang crews at Rice Field for 24 years; served as public address announcer and scorer for basketball games for 10 years; owned K-A Associates, Inc., a woodworking, machine, and tool manufacturing business.
Wife, Lois (deceased); children, Larry (Nila), Ronald (Gina), and Julie; 6 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Merit Contributor - Official: Served as a football, basketball, and track official for Indiana High School Athletic Association 1945-1962.

Officiating Honors: Received an Honorary IHSAA Citation Award 1983; served as president of St. Joe Valley Officials Association.
