3-year letterman and starter at halfback; set Purdue and Big Ten records with 3,315 rushing yards in 3 seasons; single-game rushing record of 276 yards still stands; had 13 games of 100 rushing yards or more, with a single season record of 1,361 yards; UPI, AP, Football Writers of America, Time magazine, Football News, The Sporting News, and Walter Camp Foundation All-American 1972; Big Ten MVP 1972; earned Swede Nelson Sportsmanship Award; Offensive MVP East-West Shrine Game 1973.
Inducted into Chicagoland Sports, Purdue Intercollegiate Athletics, Denver Football, and College Football Halls of Fame; active member of Broncos Alumni Council; currently works as a sales and marketing executive in Denver area.

Professional Athletics: Selected in 1st round of 1973 NFL draft by Denver Broncos, ending his collegiate career; played 8 seasons with Broncos; retired from NFL in 1980 after suffering a severe neck injury in a blocking drill.

Professional Honors: Led league in rushing in 1974 with 1,407 yards on 263 carries, had 9 TDs, and named to Pro Bowl; played in 1978 Super Bowl XII; gained 4,453 career rushing yards and 131 TDs; caught 131 passes for 1,302 career receiving yards and 7 TD.
