All-American 1928; All-Big 10 1928; IU MVP 1928; awarded first Silver Football by Chicago Tribune as Big 10 MVP 1928; Clevenger Award from IU 1928; awarded IU Balford Award 1928; East-West team captain and MVP 1928.
While at Linton as a senior player in 1923, team posted an 8-0-1 record (8-0 against Indiana teams) and outscored opponents 155-0; was inducted posthumously into the Indiana University Athletic Hall of Fame in 2010.

Professional Athletic Background: Played for Portsmouth Spartans (later became the Detroit Lions) and Chicago Cardinals, receiving $500 per game.

Coaching Experience: After playing 6 years, became head coach at La Grange, IL, Lyons Township HS in 1939; coached 21 years, winning 11 West Suburban Conference Championships; also served as athletic director at Lyons Township 1960-1966.
