Bob walked on at the University of Michigan under legendary Coach Bo Schembechler. While at Michigan, Bob would go on to set and hold (for 30+ years) multiple kicking records, where he also earned All-Big 10, and 2nd team All-American honors.
Bob is retired from education and resides in Fort Wayne with his wife, Lisa. The Bergeron's have 2 children: as son Robby and a daughter Lisa.
Bergeron spent 6 weeks at Dallas Cowboys Training Camp before pursuing a career in coaching and teaching. After stops at Indianapolis Washington and Riverton Parke, Bob moved back to Fort Wayne and began a 25-year career as a math teacher and assistant coach for the perennial champion Snider Panthers. While back in Fort Wayne, Bob also put on multiple kicking camps for youth in the area, providing a much-needed service at a time when kicking camps where hard to find in region 3.
