Craig earned 10 varsity letters, in football, basketball and baseball, while at Tell City. He was a 3-year starter at Quarterback (1964-66). In his senior year, he earned All-SIAC quarterback. He was second team All-State quarterback in 1966. He passed for nearly 3000 passing yards, including 22 passing touchdowns. He was selected to play in the 1st North/South All-Star Football Game and led the south team to victory finishing 2nd in MVP voting.

The only quarterback in the history of the Indiana Collegiate Conference to be selected All-Conference QB 3 times. Named Conference MVP. Won the ICC Championship his senior year. Set school records by throwing 62 TD passes, completing 40 passes in a single game against Ball State. He threw for 6 touchdown passes against St Joseph University. For his career he had over 4500 yards passing.
Craig was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the NFL draft.
