Robert was a tailback at Edgewood High School from 1994-1997. He is Edgewood's single season and career rushing leader. Robert rushed for over 2,000 yards in back-to-back seasons finishing with 2, 218 yards in his senior season. He rushed for a single game record of 351 yards as a junior. He finished his high school career with 45 rushing touchdowns and 4,315 rushing yards. As a senior, he finished as the states leading rusher averaging 200.6 yards per game. After the 1997 season, he ranked 18th All-Time in state history for rushing yards.
He was named All-West Central Conference in 1996 and 1997. Robert was IFCA All-State in 1996 and 1997, as well as AP All-State in 1997. In 1997, he was listed by the Herald-Times as one of their Top 33 in the State of Indiana. In 1998, Edgewood retired Robert's number 24 in football. While at Edgewood, Robert was coached by Ralph Haynes in 1994 and John Chance from 995-97.
Robert was All-West Central Conference in Track and Field from 1995-1998. He was a member of the 4 x 100 Relay Team which set school records and placed Top 20 in the State Championship.

Robert was a 3-year letterman for the Indiana State Football Team from 1998-2002. He was a Sycamore Scholar Athlete from 1998-2002.
Since 2004, Robert has worked in public education as a special education teacher. In 2012, he transitioned to school administration.
Robert and his wife, Aleta have three children, Ashlyn, Austin and Adalyn.
In 2020, Robert was inducted into the Monroe County Sports Hall of Fame.
