Two-year defensive end starter; Named First Team All-American by AP, UPI, Coaches, and Life; played in Hula Bowl, All-American Bowl, and East-West Shrine Bowl; played in 1962 All-Star Game, with team beating the Green Bay Packers, the last time the pro team was beaten.
Inducted into the Hammond Sports Hall of Fame.

Professional Athletic Background: Drafted as 13th pick in 1963 NFL draft by the St. Louis Cardinals; Rookie of the Year as a right defensive end 1963; with the Cardinals 1963-1969; played in the 1969 Pro Bowl; signed with the Philadelphia Eagles in 1970; returned to Cardinals in 1972 for one year; ended playing career in the World Football League in 1975; career was ended due to a severe back injury.
