Coaching Experience: Coach of all sports at South Bend Central HS 1918-1935; had 22 consecutive wins in football; freshmen football coach at Purdue University 1935-1941; head coach at Purdue 1942-1943; head coach at University of Rochester, NY, 1944-1961, with a record of 82-48-6; overall coaching record of 113-27-13 at the high school level and 92-56-6 at the college level.
Coaching Honors: Undefeated 1943 team at Purdue University and Co-Big Ten Champions; tied with Michigan for National Championship 1943; two undefeated football teams at University of Rochester 1952 and 1958.
Outstanding Players Coached: Hank Stram, Alex Agase, the Elliott brothers at Purdue, and “Ski” Voedisch, South Bend Central and Notre Dame.
