3-year football letter winner 1974-1976; 97 receptions, a Carmel HS record for 18 years; 1431 yards; current single game record of 13 catches and 171 yards vs Noblesville 1976; two-way starter as strong safety and wide receiver, kicked off and held for extra points for state runner-up team 1976; scored 98 points and kicked one game winning field goal as a receiver and place kicker 1976; Indiana All-Star 1977.

4-year letter winner as wide receiver 1977-1980; career statistics of 140 catches (tops all-time in Purdue annals), 2126 yards (tops all-time in Purdue annals), and 14 touchdowns (tops all-time in Purdue annals); set Purdue and Big Ten records of 13 catches, 200 yards vs. Wisconsin 1980; in senior season, had 66 catches (top 10 nationally), 1001 yards (Purdue record and Top 10 nationally), and 8 touchdowns; scored at least one touchdown in all three winning bowl games (Peach, Bluebonnet, Liberty); started in post-season All-Star games (Japan Bowl and Hula Bowl), scoring a touchdown in both games; part of 1980 team that remains only Boilermaker squad to win 10 games in school history; part of only team to win three consecutive bowl games 1978-1980; continues to be 14th all-time at PU in receptions, 9th in receiving yards, and 13th in receiving touchdowns.
