All-State selection in football; Post-Tribune area scoring leader; in junior year, team was first Gary team to reach sectional in 10 years; carried a single season record of 211 times for 1,292 yards and scored 15 TD; kicked 8 PAT’s and 8 2 point conversions; had 1,599 total season yards, including 11 pass receptions plus kick-off and punt returns; received All-American honors 2 years in track.

4-year letterman; during this time, team compiled a 35-13-1 record and won 1986 Big Ten title; played defensive back; started 30 career games; completed career with 113 tackles and five interceptions; on special teams, returning 13 punts for an average of 9.5 yards 1985; served as a student coach during 1988-1989 academic year.
Inducted into the Indiana High School Track Hall of Fame 1995.
Coaching Experience: Graduate assistant at Michigan 1988; running backs coach at US Naval Academy 1989-1990, at Ball State 1991-1993, and at Syracuse 1994; Michigan wide receiver coach 1995-2002, then assistant head coach/wide receiver coach 2003-2007; wide receivers coach at Iowa 2008-2012; since 2013 has been wide receivers coach for Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League.

Coaching Honors: Coached three All-Americans - David Terrell, Marquise Walker, and Braylon Edwards - and had three players named Bo Schembechler Most Valuable Players of football team; his players have earned All-Big Ten honors 12 times.

Outstanding Players Coached: Coached Michigan top wide receivers who went on to NFL such as Amani Toomer of New York Giants, Mercury Hayes of New Orleans Saints, 1997 Heisman Winner Charles Woodson of Oakland Raiders, Tai Streets of San Francisco 49ers, and Ronald Bellamy of Miami Dolphins.
