Coaching Honors: Franklin College - #1 in nation in pass offense 1983 and Conference runner-up 1982; at Fort Hays State - 1985 team ranked 12th in NAIA and conference runner-up; helped pass offense to No. 1 ranking; 1986 team was #2 in nation in passing and #9 in country in total offense; at Ball State - helped win MAC Championship and trip to California Raisin Bowl; at Colorado - was WAC runner-up and won trip to Freedom Bowl; at U of M - helped team to 1997 National Championship, 1998 Citrus Bowl, and Big Ten title; 1992 and 1997 Big Ten Champions; 1993 and 1997 Rose Bowls and 1994 Holiday Bowl; nominated Assistant Coach of the Year by Sports News 1997; Manchester Alumni Coach of the Year 1998.
