Played fullback on Coach Russ Arndt's team 1933-1935; won South Bend Tribune Gilbert Award MVP; All-State fullback on 1935 State Championship team; voted by MHS “King-Kodeed" and awarded NIHSC Gold Football.

Started every game 1937-1939; played 1st string fullback; played both ways - offense and defense; voted Big 10 MVP fullback; selected on several All-American teams; nominated for College All-Star Game.
Returned to Purdue after professional career to continue studies; was inducted into US Air Corp in 1942, where he designed and helped build an obstacle course at Buckley Field, Denver, CO; was physical education instructor over physical training of inductees.

Professional Athletic Background: Drafted by Detroit Lions 1941; later farmed to Patterson Panthers and played a full season in every game at Patterson, NJ.

Coaching Experience: Head football coach at Broad Ripple HS, Indianapolis; head coach at Grand Lodge HS, Michigan; freshman coach at St. Joseph's HS, South Bend, in football, basketball, and baseball; assistant football coach at Washington Clay, which was later renamed Clay HS, staying 17 years and retiring in 1973.
