Coach Dale Doerffler graduted from Concordia Lutheran High School in Fort Wayne in 1973. he attended Ball State University before beginning his career in educational-based athletics and Northside High School in Fort Wayne. Coach Doerffler spent 37 years working at Northside high school as a teacher, coach, and athletic director. He was the head football coach from 1980-1996 where he amassed an over-all record of 110-61. Doerfller would lead Northside to 3 sectional titles in 1984, 1988, and 1990. He won a regional title in 1984. Under his direction, Northside won 4 SAC titles in 1984, 1987, 1988, and 1991. He was names the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette Coach of the year in 1984 and 1987. After retiring from Coaching Doerfller served as the Northside Athletic Director from 1996-2016. Dale Doerffler's twin brother Dean was also inducted into the HOF on July 17, 2023. Their older brother Buzz is also a member of the hall of fame.
