Vaughn Dunbar is a 1987 graduate of R. Nelson Snider High School in Fort Wayne. In 1986, Dunbar led the Panthers to the 1986 5A State Title, where he set the state finals record with a 96-yard run. Dunbar's state finals performance capped of a senior year that included 2,568 rushing yards and 40 touchdowns. Dunbar would go on to play football at Indiana University. While at Indiana, Dunbar compiled 3,029 rushing yards, 25 rushing touchdowns, and 4,041 all-purpose yards. In 1991, he was 2nd in the country in rushing yds (1,805) and all-purpose yards (2,330). He was the 1991 Jim Brown Award recipient. Dunbar a unanimous 1st team All-American and finished 6th in the Heisman voting. Dunbar would lead the Hoosier to 2 bowl game appearances. He was the 1991 Copper Bowl MVP and the Indiana Hoosier Team MVP in 1991. Dunbar was drafted with the 21st pick to the New Orleans Saints in 1992. He was named to the Professional Football Writers Association All Rookie Team in 1992. He played 39 career games in the NFL with New Orleans and Jacksonville where he compiled 935 rushing yards on 267 attempts and 5 touchdowns. He also had 11 catches in the NFL for 73 yards.
