Served as Athletic Director/Assistant Principal of McCutcheon High School from its opening in 1975 until his death in March of 1980; football stadium at McCutcheon was edicated and named in his honor in February 1980, and the David L. Ellison Mental Attitude Award was initiated and given to the athlete who best exemplified the qualities of Dave Ellison.

Coaching Experience: Graduate assistant under Jack Mollenkopf at PU 2 years; head football coach at Southwestern HS 1965-1974, with overall record 75-18-2 and conference record of 44-0-1.

Coaching Honors: Never lost a Conference Championship or Conference Game; 9 Conference Championships; 1974 Indiana North All-Star Assistant Coach.
