Taught and coached for 20 years in Davies County, Bloomington, and Wabash High Schools; also served as dean of boys, principal, and high school referee; served 8 years as Superintendent of Sullivan Schools and 3 years in same position at Huntington; one of the most sought after speakers in Indiana, he delivered more than 3,700 talks to nearly 2 million people in every Indiana county; inducted into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame 1970; served on US Olympic Commission for gymnastics and was a member of the US Track and Field Federation.

Merit Contributor - Administrator: Served as the third Commissioner of Indiana High School Athletic Association 1962-1976; helped add State Championships in gymnastics, tennis, football, and baseball for boys and volleyball, golf, gymnastics, track, tennis, and swimming for girls; during his tenure, student participation in organized high school sports grew from 40,000 to 157,000 and from 6 State Championship sports to 17.
