Coach Fisher was selected Central Iowa Metro League Coach of the Year and Iowa Shrine Bowl All-Star Game Coach in 2002. He served on the Iowa Football Coaches Association Board of Directors in 2003 and 2004. Coach Fisher was an Indiana North-South All-Star Game Coach in 2009 and 2016. Coach Fisher has served as an Executive Board Member of the Indiana Football Coaches Association from 2013 - present, serving as IFCA president in 2015.
Darrin and his wife, Susan, have two children, Evan and Grace.
Darrin started his coaching career at Muncie Central HS in 1988. He was an assistant coach at Avon HS 1989-90. He was hired as the head coach at Cascade HS in 1991 to rebuild a program that had not won a game in the previous 2 seasons. He led the program to it's first Sectional Championship is the school's history in 1992. Darrin moved to Iowa in 1995 with stops at Nevada HS and Des Moines East HS. Taking the helm of an East High program that had not qualified for the playoffs in 10 years, the Scarlets won 4 consecutive City Championships and qualified for the playoffs in 2002, 2003, and 2004. Coach Fisher returned to Indiana in 2005 to restore the winning football tradition as Head Coach at Whiteland High School. Between 2005 and 2022, the Whiteland Warriors have won 7 Mid-State Conference Championships (2208, 2010, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2020, 2022) and 5 Sectional Championships (2006, 2013, 2014, 2020, 2022). The 2022 season saw the Warriors win the South Semi-State Championship and finish as the Class 5A State Runner-up. From 2005-2022, the Warriors have compiled a record of 130-73, with a .715 winning percentage versus the Mid-State Conference and .710 winning percentage on their home field.
