During WW II, played on All-Service teams; was a tackle on undefeated Navy Air Force team at Norman, Oklahoma, Air Base; appeared as speaker in many Indiana high school football clinics and Purdue football clinics.
Coaching Experience: Head coach in football, basketball, and track at Bicknell HS 1946-1948; won Division Championship in football in SIAC Conference 1948; head coach in football, basketball, and track at Hanover College 1949-1950; Athletic Director and head football coach at Wabash College 1951-1961; had best 7-year record Wabash ever enjoyed, winning 64 consecutive games, losing only once to Butler and once to DePauw.

Coaching Honors: Had first undefeated football team in Hanover College history 1949; at Wabash, had 2nd undefeated football team, with last undefeated season in 1951; in 15 years as head coach, record was 76-52-8; coached North Squad in first North-South HS All-Star Game 1952, with team winning 19-0; in 1953-54, coached East Squad in 2nd High School All-Star Game.
