Earned 4 varsity letters as an offensive lineman and defensive linebacker on a full scholarship, playing in the days of one platoon football; became Butler's first football Little All-American in 1957; repeated the honor in 1958; was named MVP of the Indiana Collegiate Conference that same year; was captain of the football team during these years.
Was teacher and coach for 2 years in the Indianapolis Public Schools; had an outstanding career as a Sales Representative, advancing to District Sales Manager for Merck, Sharp and Dohme, retiring in 1992 after 27 years; inducted into the Butler Athletic Hall of Fame 1996.
