Earned a letter as an offensive and defensive tackle; enlisted in Army and, after basic training, was invited to attend the U.S. Military Academy, where he played for renowned coach Earl "Red" Blaik; were undefeated and National Champions in 1944, 1945, 1946; Look Magazine and NEA All-American 1945.
After serving 5 years as commissioned officer in US Army, including time in Korea, was employed as Senior Project Manager for Semford Contracting Company, Inc.; inducted into Gary Sports Hall of Fame 1962; served on numerous community boards in Gary.
Wife, Nancy; three sons, Marshall, Bruce, and Greg; one granddaughter.
Coaching Experience: Student assistant at U. S. Military Academy 1947-1948; head line coach for 5th Infantry Division 1951; freshman coach at US Military Academy 1952, then junior varsity line coach in 1953.
