George was a 3-sport athlete at Rensselaer Central High School, participating in Football, Wrestling and Track. In football, he earned all-conference honors and was an honorable-mention all-state selection.

George earned one letter in football at St. Joseph University and two at Manchester. He lettered in wrestling at St. Joe and in 1977 he was All-District 21 and honorable mention All-American.
George had an outstanding staff, including Shane Arnold, Jason Tolle, Memo Perez, Jeremy Kennedy, PJ Hatcher, Marvin Boswell, Jeff Parker, John Igoe, Tracy Rosa and Dan Douglass. He has coached many outstanding players including; Steve Zuber, Mike Sinn, Mark Tinlin, Terry Dysinger, Jeff Waters, Matt Johnson, Jason Abbott, Russ Royer, Matt Neal, Aaron Salem, Cory Lamb, Troy Cheek, Travis Cheek, Mike Gilbert, Matt Gilbert, Chris Vawter, Robbie Petrie, Jason Lane, Blake Pullen, Brandon Pullen, Joel Sheets, Evan Sheets, Michael Griffy, Christian Hall, Nick Dunn, Tim Edmonds, Brad Webster, Garrett Ferrell, Brandon Johnson, Jade Pickett, Cody Colbert, Cody Howell, Darius Stanley, Ryan Cage, Seth Blunk, Garrett Kelley, Dillion Smith and Colten Leininger.
George authored the book "Team of One: We Believe", a story of the 5-year struggle of the Tri-Central Football program that was one of Indiana's weakest football schools that would win an Indiana State Championship.

Coaching Experience: Assistant football coach Wayne Trace HS, Haviland, OH 1978-1980, then head coach 1980-1985; head coach Pioneer HS 1986-1988, Clinton Central HS 1988-2008, and Tri-Central HS 2009 to 2018. He was rehired at Clinton Central H.S. in 2020. His career coaching record is 231-196-4 to date; 39 years as head football coach and 2 years as an assistant. Currently, George ranks 12th on the active "wins list" and is 41st "all- time". He has had 23 winning seasons, 8 conference championships, 5 sectional championships, 1 regional, 1 semi-state and 1 state championship (2013). He also coached wrestling 25 years and track 22 years.
