William completed his education at South Bend Washington High School, where he proudly contributed to the 1973 State Championship Football Team. William showcased his athletic prowess by earning varsity letters in football, wrestling, and baseball, each for three consecutive years. His many accomplishments and awards include: • Honorable Mention NIC All-Conference Guard 1973 (Junior) • First Team NIC All-Conference Center 1974 (Senior) • First Team NIC All-Conference Linebacker 1974 (Senior) • Team Captain 1974 • All-State Center (AP and UPI) (Senior) • Recognition as an All-American High School Football Player 1974 Beyond his versatility on both offense and defense, William also served as the kicker for the football team. It is truly a tremendous accomplishment to be named both first team all-conference on both offense and defense, to start on a state championship football team, and to letter in three different sports during each of his sophomore, junior and senior years. This in addition to all of his other honors. Moreover, he contributed to the success of the 1974 Washington High School Baseball Semi-State Championship team.
Oklahoma
B.S. in Engineering and Land Management
William continued his education at the University of Oklahoma. He was coached by Barry Switrzer, and was a member of the 1975 National Championship Team. He also played in the 1976 Orange Bowl. The Orange Bowl matched the fifth ranked Michigan Wolverines and the third ranked Oklahoma Sooners. It was the first meeting between the two teams. Oklahoma won 14-6. William (Billy) played linebacker for the Sooners. He was also a member of the Alpha Psi Fraternity.
His remarkable achievements earned him induction into the Washington High School Hall of Fame.
William earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering and Land Management. Throughout his career, he held positions as a Junior Executive at Standard Oil Company in both New Orleans and Washington DC. Additionally, he contributed his talents to Citgo Oil Company in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
