Taught at Maconaquah Junior HS, Maconaquah HS, and Seymour HS; served as AD while head coach at Maconaquah HS; served as secretary and president of Indiana Football Coaches Association; served as co-chair of All-State Selection committee and chair of "Mr. Football" committee; served on National Federaton of Football Rules Committee 1982-1987; was Midwest National High School Football Chairman 1981-1987; IFCA named an award in his honor to be given annually to an Indiana All-Star who exemplifies leadership and spirit on and off the field; received the Bob Springer President's Award by IFCA in July 2018 for his dedication and contributions to the success fo football in Indiana; inducted into Seymour High School Athletics Hall of Fame in the inaugural class of 2018.

Coaching Experience: Head football coach at Maconaquah HS, beginning in 1972; in 1974, became head football coach at Seymour HS, where he remained for 30 years; head coaching career record of 202-133; also coached basketball, baseball, and track; retired from coaching in 2003.

Coaching Honors: Coach of the Year for Region 10 in 1991 and 1997; had 6 Sectional Championships, 2 Regionals, and State Runner-up in Class 4A 1991; head coach of South squad in All-Star game 1998 and an assistant coach 3 additional times.

Outstanding Players Coached: Coached 65 All-State players, 16 Indiana All-Stars, 54 Academic All-State players, and 209 All-Conference players.
