As a member of Associated Press Football Writers Association, served on selection committee for All-Americans in football and basketball; was on nominations committee of Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame; Indiana Top Sportswriter of the Year in 1960 and l966; named a Sagamore of the Wabash by Governor Branigan 1966; honorary member of John Purdue Club; member of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity; honored by townspeople with a testimonial dinner and given a new car in 1959; charter member of the Football Writers Association of America; inducted posthumously into Indiana Journalism Hall of Fame 1988.
