Merit Contributor - Sportswriter: After discharge from Marines, was hired by the legendary sportswriter, Gordon Graham, at Lafayette Journal and Courier; employed there for 34 years as Assistant Sports Editor, retiring in 1981; covered all high school athletics, Purdue University, and other Big Ten events; covered over 500 football games, including six and eight variety during early career; helped newly consolidated county schools develop programs through publicity; devoted efforts to writing stories from coaches' and players’ side of game; was dedicated to Indiana High School Athletic Association programs; helped campaign for state play-off system and worked for conference alignment to give schools and teams added goals of accomplishments.
