Andy graduated attended Reitz High School from 1991 to 1994. In that time Andy was a varsity starter for 3 years, Captained the 1993 Football Team, was an IHSAA Sectional and Regional Champion, was selected to the All- Metro Team in 1992 and 1993, a Downtown Quarterback Club selection in 1992 & 1993, a member of the IFCA Junior All State Team in 1992, a member of the IFCA 4A All State Team in 1993, selected as an AP All State player in 1992 & 1993, a member of the Bloomington Hearld All State Team in 1993, a member of the winning South Team in the 1992 North/South All Star Game, selected as the Evansville Defensive Player of the Year in 1993, the 1993 Football Kiwanis Award Winner and the 1993 Herman Byers Male Athlete of the Year.

After high school, Andy received a full athletic scholarship to attend Western Kentucky University where he studied and played football from 1994 until 1999. He was a four-year starter for the Hilltoppers playing defensive end, defensive tackle, and offensive tackle. Andy captained the 1998 Football Team, was a NCAA National Playoff Quarterfinalist, was selected to the 1AA All-Independent All-Star Team in 1997-1998, was voted in as a member of WKU’s All Centennial Football Team, selected as an Associated Press All American in 1997 & 1998, selected as a Hansen’s Football Gazette All American in 1997 & 1998, was one of the Sports Illustrated AFCA Players to Watch in 1998 and chosen as the 1998 WKU Teams Most Valuable Player.

After playing, Andy started coaching and has served at many institutions. He started his career at Lake Wales High School where he was the Offensive Line Coach from 1999-2001. After a successful stint at Lake Wales, he was a member of the Webber International University staff that helped start football where he served as the Offensive Line Coach from 2001-2004. Andy and his family made their way back closer to home when he accepted a coaching position at Earlham College. He served as the Offensive line coach and Co-Offensive Coordinator from 2004- 2008. In the fall of 2008, Andy accepted a position at Franklin College and served as the Offensive Line coach and Co-Offensive Coordinator. He served in that role from 2008 to 2013. His last stop was back home at his alma-mater where he was the Head Football Coach at F.J Reitz High School from 2013 until 2020.
