Played football on freshman team then lettered as a right guard 1926-1928 seasons; record for carrying a blocked kick the farthest distance for a touchdown occurred in 1928 Purdue-Northwestern game, a Big Ten record that stood until 1961; chosen All-State one year; All-Big Ten Honorable Mention 1928; also lettered in swimming and water polo 3 years; earned 9 major letters, 3 in each sport.
