Tim Hreha came to DePauw in 1969 from McKeesport, Pa, and was a three-year starter at defensive tackle and earned three varsity letters serving as captain his senior year. After graduating in 1973 with a B.A. degree in history, he earned his M.A.T. degree in physical education from DePauw in 1976 while serving as a graduate assistant football coach. Following a year at Shenandoah High School he returned to DePauw for the 1978-79 year. Hreha served as the defensive coordinator and coached defensive lineman, linebackers and kickers for more than 45 seasons and coached the track and field program for 40 seasons. In 1979, he became the men's track and field head coach before serving as the first coach of the women's track and field program in 1981. Among the many highlights of his track and field career was coaching Alan Hill to DePauw's first individual national championship as he won the pole vault in 1981.
Hreha was inducted into the DePauw Athletics Hall of Fame in 2022.
Tim is survived by his beloved partner, Patricia Gammon, her children Dave, Cliff, Kathleen and Bob Gammon and grandchildren Robert Gammon-Pittman and Carolyn Gammon-Pittman.
