Acclaimed best schoolboy pole vaulter in the United States by the Amateur Athletic Union 1919; in 1920, was put on same mythical team in high hurdles.

Belonged to Colister Club, Torch Honor Society, and Tau Beta PI Engineering Honorary Fraternity; an outstanding member of football and track teams; represented Yale in an international track meet in Boston; won the International High Hurdles Championship in a meet held at Wembley, England, 1923; member of 1924 Yale team that won the Intercollegiate Track and Field Championships; All-American End on the undefeated 1923 football team, and was given Honorable Mention on Walter Camp's All-American Team that year.
Most singular and outstanding achievement in his life, putting him in the international limelight of the sports world, was the re-establishment and development of the world famous '500 Mile Auto Race' the largest and most spectacular single sporting event in the world; member of United State Tuna team 1942-1952; in 1964, served as State Chairman on the Olympic Games Committee.
Coaching Experience: 1924 freshman football coach at Rose Poly Institute of Technology; also assisted Coach Clark in coaching varsity line.
