In 1962, he created the HokumKarem-style cross country meet at Wabash in which two-man teams give a relay approach to cross country meets with each runner alternating running one mile for a total of six miles rather than the traditional five mile cross country course; sons, Stan and Jerry, both followed their father into successful coaching careers.
Coaching Experience: Earlham College football, basketball and track coach; Wabash College track and cross country coach 1949-1971.
Coaching Honors: Wabash College relays named for Coach Huntsman; inducted into the Wabash Hall of Fame in 1982; inducted into Earlham's inaugural Hall of Fame class in 1991.
