Coach Kirschner, also known as "Coach K" has made a tremendous impact on student-athletes and on the game of football in the state of Indiana. He is a two-time state championship head coach at Ben Davis in 2014 and 2017. Additionally, his Ben Davis teams won three MIC Conference Championships in 2012, 2013, and 2017. In 2011, 2016 and 2017 he was the Marion County Coach of the Year. He was also the IFCA Coach of the Year in 2014 and 2017. In 2014, he was honored as the Max Preps Indiana Coach of the Year. The Indianapolis Colts also honored him as Coach of the Year for 2014 and 2017. Coach K was also the head coach for the North-South All-Star game. In 2017, he was the head coach of the Army All-American game and in 2015 he served as the assistant defensive line coach for that prestigious game. Later Coach Kirschner became the head coach at Mt. Vernon High School where in 2019 he directed the Marauders to their first regional football championship in school history.
