Committee member for Indiana football selection for Washington High School's Athletic Hall of Fame; Teacher of the Year Award 1982 at Washington HS; has never been associated with or worked with a losing football program; IHSAA track and cross-country starting official for 30 years; IHSAA Outstanding Track Starter 1988; very active in outdoor biology teaching, winning 3 IDNR contests with high school students; Program Chairman of Izazk Walton League Conservation Group for 35 years; during Korean Conflict 1953-1955, 1st Lt. Stanley was Company Commander of Weapons Company 2nd Bn 9th Marines 3rd Division; received the All-American Football Foundation President Gerald R. Ford All-American High School Coach Award for Outstanding Performance in Football in 2008; inducted into South Bend Washington Athletic Hall of Fame; inducted into Hanover College Athletic Hall of Fame in 2006.
Wife, Mary Jane (deceased 8-12-2018); children, Kathryn, Daniel (Beth), Jeffrey (Katherine), Kelly Sue (John), and Thomas (deceased 1962); ten grandchildren.
Coaching Experience: Freshmen coach South Bend Washington HS 1955-1956, with a 14-2 record; varsity assistant coach at Washington 1957-1965 with a record of 66-24-18; mythical State Champions in 1961, 1964; defensive co-ordinator for 1st Class AAA State Championship in 1973; 1st head coach at South Bend LaSalle HS 1965-1969, with a record of 27-19-1; assistant coach at Washington HS 1970-1976; assistant track coach 1957; head track coach 1958-1962; placed state winners in state track meet.
