After coaching football for 20 years, became athletic director at DeKalb; also taught 5th and 6th grades at McIntosh Elementary School and math at DeKalb Middle and High Schools.
Wife, Kathie; sons, Aaron (Emily), Alex (Kendra), and Adam; grandsons, Theo, Louis, and Nolan.
Coaching Experience: DeKalb HS (Waterloo, IN) - assistant freshman coach 1979, varsity assistant coach 1980-1989, head coach 1990-1997, varsity assistant coach 1998, and freshman head coach 1999; overall head coach record 67-19; retired from coaching in 1999.
Coaching Honors: KPC News All-Area Coach of the Year 1992, 1994, 1995, 1996; NHC Coach of the Year 1992-1993, 1995, 1996; North All-Star assistant coach 1995; as assistant coach - Class 4A State Champions 1986, 3 NHC conference championships, 3 sectional championships and 1 cluster championship; as head coach - Class 4A State Runner-up 1994, NHC championships 1992-1996, 3 undefeated regular seasons 1994-1996, 3 sectional championships 1992, 1994, 1995.
