Offensive tackle and defensive tackle on National Championship team 1966; Notre Dame Defensive Lineman of Year 1968; Honorable Mention All-American Defensive End 1968; played East-West and All-American Bowls; was third baseman on baseball team.
Active in charities such as National United Way, Florida Lung Association, and Spinal Cord Injuries Foundation; brother, Rudy, also played in the NFL with the Chicago Bears.
Children: Bryan, Erik, Nicholas, Alexandra, Brandon; two grandchildren.
Professional Athletic Background: Drafted in 4th round by Philadelphia Eagles in 1969; with Miami Dolphins 1970-1984; started in 197 games and played in 19 of team's play-off games; played center, guard, and tackle; performed long snaps on all punts, field goals, and points after touchdown; his ability to long snap brought about his becoming long snapper in several Pro Bowls; an injury ended career.

Professional Athletic Honors: Only Dolphin player to play in 5 Super Bowls (1971, 1972 Champions and perfect season, 1973 Champions, 1982, 1984); played in 6 Pro Bowls; was a captain 1980-1984; only NFL player to earn honors in two positions; First Team All-Pro 1975, 1978; Second Team All-Pro 1977; named All-AFC 3 times.
