Member of National Honor Society; 4 sports letter winner, 2 as starting quarterback in football, 3 varsity letters in basketball, 2 varsity letters in track, and 4 varsity letters in golf; golf team won 4 conference titles and qualified for state match play his junior and senior years.

Received Outstanding Male Student of Men Quad 1956-1957; rode on winning Little 500 bicycle team senior year.
Inducted into Taylor University Athletic Hall of Fame in 2000; selected Grant County Football Coach of the Century 2000; an FCA chapter in 1968 at Oak Hill which, at one time, became 4th largest in nation; honored on cover of Indiana Grid Coach magazine in June 1990; served on several IFCA committees, including one that set up first state play-off in Indiana.

Coaching Experience: Assistant coach at Oak Hill HS 1960-1963; became head coach 1963 and continued to 1982; while at Oak Hill, compiled a record of 127-54-2; 1969-1970 Oak Hill team went undefeated allowing only 13 points in 1969 and 7 points in 1970, ranking #1 in state defensively; head football coach at Taylor University 1982-1990, with a record of 41-34-2.
Coaching Honors: While at Oak Hill, teams won 6 conference titles; 1976 team advanced to semi-final game and 1980 qualified for state tournament; was an assistant coach in first year high school coaches could coach the Indiana High School All-State Game; while at Taylor, named NAIA District Coach of the Year 3 times.
