4-sport letterman; lettered in football as a running back, defensive back, returner, and punter; was All-City, All-State, and an Indiana All-Star; had over 1800 rushing yards for a 6.77 average; lettered in basketball and was All-City and All-Sectional; All-City in baseball; City and State Champion in long jump; named Indianapolis Star Co-City Athlete of the Year (along with George McGinnis).

After retiring from professional football, began a career in sales; inducted into Scecina's Crusader Wall of Honor in 2005; served on the Board of Directors of the I-Association; will posthumously receive the Z.G. Clevenger Award in October, 2012, for outstanding contributions to IU through service to its athletic program.
