Received letters in football, basketball, baseball, and track in all four years; one of Decatur's all-time athletes.

Lettered in football all four years.
Served four years in Army during WW II; member of the Community Church, Lions Club, La Porte Yacht Club, and Hill and Dales Men's Service Organization; named the Lions Club Man of the Year in 1982; the New Carlisle Historical Museum created a section displaying his memorabilia; after retiring from teaching, served on New Carlisle Town Board and as Police Commissioner from 1987 until his illness; at his request, upon his death his ashes were spread on the "old" New Carlisle football field where he had been the only coach the school had known.
Wife, Patricia Ann; daughters, Lee Ann, Sara Jane, and Susan Kay.
Coaching Experience: Coached for Knightstown 1949-1952; Columbus HS 1952-1954; New Carlisle HS 1955, starting the program there, with a 73-38-5 record; New Carlisle was then consolidated into New Prairie HS where he coached 1968-1970.
Coaching Honors: Ball State University's Coach of the Year in 1960; career record of 90-51-7.
Outstanding Players Coached: Bill Doba, Frank O'Shea, Don Rush, John Bingaman, Tim Brown, Brule Nickerson, Harry Toleman, and Gene Janski.
