Marty was a four-sport athlete, participating in football, basketball, baseball and track. He earned 15 varsity letters, which is still a record at Bremen. He played for Hall of Fame coach, Don Bunge.

He was Region 2 Coach of the Year in 1995, Herald Times Coach of the Year in 1994, Ball State Alumni Coach of the Year in 1994 and was chosen to be the head coach for the North in the 1994 All-Star game.
Marty is married to his wife, Connie Sue and two children, Dr. Lindsey Huff and Mitchel T, Huber (the T stands for his uncle, Hall of Fame coach Ted Huber. Marty and Connie have 2 grandchildren.
Marty started his teaching career at Bremen in 1978 and retired in 2013. He coached football at Bremen in some capacity for 32 years. He became the head coach of Bremen in 1988. Coach Huber took a year off in '89 and returned to the position from 1990 - 1999. During those 11 years, Bremen was 96-35, with a Northern State Conference Championship in 1990, six Sectional Championships, five Regional Championships, three Semi-State Championships and a State Championship in 1994.
