Retired from coaching in 2000 and teaching in 2004, but was recruited out of retirement to be defensive backs coach at VHS for another 6 years.

Coaching Experience: Portage HS freshman football coach 1975-1976; assistant varsity football coach at Portage 1977-2000, coaching defensive backs and offensive receivers, and served as defensive coordinator 1984-1993; assistant football coach at Valparaiso HS 2004-2010 coaching defensive backs; assistant coach career record of 275-118 in 36 years; also served as girls' softball head coach at Portage.
Coaching Honors: Portage HS - 6-time DAC and Sectional Champs, 2-time Regional and Semi-State Champs, State Runner-up 1994, State Champions 1977; Valparaiso HS - DAC Champs 2008 and 2010; Sectional, Regional, and Semi-State Champs 2010; coached numerous players who earned All-State and All-Star honors and/or played at various collegiate levels.
