Starting center in 1968 Rose Bowl; IU finished 4th in country.
Was IU Senior Associate Athletics Director for 22 years, supervising athletic department's support services and serving as sports administrator; during that period, team particpated in 1986 All-American Bowl, 1988 Peach Bowl, 1988 Liberty Bowl, 1990 Peach Bowl, 1991 Copper Bowl, and 1993 Independence Bowl; became Director of Football Operations in 2005; inducted into Western Pennsylvania Allegheny-Kiski Valley Sports Hall of Fame in May, 1993; received the Z. G. Clevenger Award in 2010; retired August 31, 2010, after 40 years with Indiana University.
Wife, Joy; children, Heather and Megan.
Coaching Experience: Served as an IU graduate assistant 1968; assistant coach at University HS, Bloomington, 1969-1970; IU assistant freshman coach 1971, moving to varsity 1972; followed IU coach, John Pont, to Northwestern for 4 years; returned to IU 1977-1981 as guards/centers coach; served as offensive coordinator 1982; assistant coach on IU 1979 Holiday Bowl Championship squad.
Coaching Honors: In 15 years of coaching offense, had 11 players named All-Big 10.
Outstanding Players Coached: At IU - Mark Heidel, Kevin Speer, Chuck Sukurs, Jeff Goldin, Jeff Phipps, and Jim Sakanich; at Northwestern - Larry Lilja, Paul Jasinkis, Ray Felton, and Ron Kuceyeski.
