In 1959 was Most Valuable Back in Indiana, All-State running back, All-City Team, Outstanding Athlete at Cathedral, and outstanding member of the student body at Cathedral.

Athletic scholarship recipient; varsity award winner for 3 years.
Also served Cathedral High School as teacher, athletic director, principal, vice-president/business manager, and president; member of Butler's "B" Men Association and Indiana Football Coaches Association; served on Indianapolis Zoning Board and Mayor's Civil Rights Committee; named a SAGAMORE of the WABASH, and, by proclamation, "Michael D. McGinley Day" by Governor Robert Orr 1988; serves as an education consultant.
Wife, Ann; children, Michael, Moira, David, Patrick, and Sean.
Coaching Experience: 6 years as assistant coach under Joe Dezelan, then head coach at Cathedral for 17 years, with a record of 144-49; retired from coaching 1987.
Coaching Honors: Had State Runner-up team in 1973 and 1976; Class AAA State Championship in 1986; four-time Butler University Alumni Coach of the Year 1973, 1976, 1983, 1986; Indiana South All-Star Coach 3 times; in 1986, named Coach of the Year by Faith, Family, and Football, Downtown Kiwanis Club, Bloomington Herald, and "Old Timers" Club of Indianapolis; named Kodak Corporation High School Coach of the Year 1987.
Outstanding Players Coached: Mark Clayton, Miami Dolphins; Moe Gardner, Atlanta Falcons; Darrick Brownlow, Buffalo Bills; and, David Zapp.
