Charter Member of Indiana Athletic Trainers Association (IATA) and inducted into IATA Hall of Fame 1994; member of National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA), former chairman of NATA Board of Certification 1978-1980, and former member of NATA Board of Certification 1977-1980; member and past-president of Great Lakes Athletic Trainers Association; served as an athletic trainer with 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, 1986 World Track & Field Championships, and 1987 Pan American Games; served as athletic trainer for numerous White River State Games and Hoosier State Games on both local and state level; member of Board of Directors of Lutheran Basketball Assoc. of America; serves as an IHSAA official for basketball and baseball; officiated the 2000 3A Baseball Finals.

Merit Contributor - Athletic Trainer: Athletic trainer for Valparaiso Community Schools football program from junior high through varsity level 1972-1986, including 1975 State Championship team and the 1985 State Runner-up team; involved with many IHSAA events held at Valparaiso HS, especially swimming sectional; since 1967, has served as head athletic trainer/part-time assistant professor of physical education at Valparaiso University; became a certified athletic trainer in 1970.
