Bloomington HS football field renamed "Mumby Field" in his honor; a memorial plaque is awarded annually to the outstanding senior athlete at BHS and a scholarship is presented to an outstanding athlete in his name; received the “Legion of Merit,” highest award given by Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity; Past-President of Bloomington Exchange Club; served on Bloomington Police Board; Chairman of Monroe County Community Hospital Association formed in 1957; was active in numerous civic/community organizations; member of American Legion, IU Alumni Association, IU Varsity Club, I-Men’s Club; named a Sagamore of the Wabash; member of Knights of Pythias, Indiana Retired Teachers Association and National Retired Teachers Association, Chamber of Commerce, First United Methodist Church, and National Youth Committee; official timer at all IU home football games for 35 years; considered by many as the "Father of High School Wrestling" in Indiana; inducted into the Indiana Wrestling Hall of Fame; 1962 recipient of Monroe County Community Council Award for Meritorious Service; Bloomington Tribune named him first “Father of the Year" in 1967.

Coaching Experience: Coached football 20 years at Bloomington HS, with a 1928-1945 record of 98-58-10; also served as wrestling coach; retired from coaching in 1946.Coaching Honors: 1929 and 1930 teams were considered mythical State Champions; won Southern Indiana Athletic Conference 1944, holding all conference foes scoreless 181-0.
