Participated in 3 sports at Jimtown, earning 9 varsity letters, 3 in football, 3 in basketball and 3 in baseball. In football, Ned was 1st team all-conference on offense and defense (1976-77). Northern States Conference MVP (1977). 1st Team AP and Bloomington Herald Telephone All-State as a linebacker (1977). Team MVP in 1977. In basketball, he was a 2-time All-NSC (1977-78). Won the Team Defense Award 1978-1979. In baseball, Ned was a 2 time All-NSC (1977-78). Team MVP (1978). 2 time All-Sectional Team, Team MVP (1978).

In 2010, Ned was inducted into the Elkhart County Sports Hall of
Fame.
Ned is married to his wife Marla, they have 3 children, Justin (Claire), Stephanie (Brock) and Cassandra (Tony).
Ned coached varsity football for Jimtown from 1986-2017. He was the
offensive line and linebacker coach from 1986-2017. From
1992-2017 Ned was the defensive coordinator and had a record of
273 wins and 58 losses, 17 conference championships, 15
sectional championships, 7 regional championships, 3 semi-state
championships, and 3 state championships. In 5 state games their
defense only allowed 17 total points.
Jimtown won the state championship in 1991, 1997, 1998, and 2005. He
was an assistant coach for the North All-Stars in 2005.
