At Purdue, won 7 letters in football, basketball, baseball, and track, the first Purdue athlete to letter in four major sports; was first-team All-Big Ten 1912, 1913; still owns the single-game scoring record of 43 points (5 TDs, 13 of 13 extra points) vs. Rose-Poly 1912 and shares the single-game TD record of 5; at West Point, won 3 letters in football, 4 in baseball, 3 in basketball, and 1 in track and field; also earned monograms in boxing, hockey, and swimming; ran the low hurdles in track in 25 seconds to break Army record; holds Army record for most points scored, 45, vs. Villanova 1916; scored a record 125 points in 1917 season and holds Army record for most touchdowns in a game (6) against Villanova; two-time All-American.
Identified as one of the greatest scorers in collegiate history and one of the top 100 Greatest Players of All-Time; credited with a total of 435 points in his collegiate career; had a record of 153 points at Purdue 1911-1913 and 300 points for Army 1915-1917; while in military service at West Point in 1919, he invented the intramural sports system as we know it today; joined Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in 1925 and retired in 1957; was inducted into eight Halls of Fame, including IFHOF.
