Captain of football team 1924; All-State football 1924; holds state scoring record of 205 (31 touchdowns) in one nine game season; known as the "Red Grange" of high school football, the "Flying Swede" earned varsity letters in football (2), basketball (4), and track (2); at Cheshire Academy (prep school) was captain of basketball team 1926-1927; played football 1927 and baseball 1926-1927.
