Freshman City Champs and football captain 1966; NIC Champs and quarterback for B team 1967; quarterback and running back 1968; MVP of NIC, NIC Champs, and Indiana State Champs 1969; as co-captain senior year, rushed for over 1000 yards, scored 11 touchdowns, and played in the North-South All-Star game; 3-year letterman.
University of South Dakota 1970-1971; transferred to St. Joseph's College

4-year letterman; Most Valuable Offensive Back 1972; co-captain 1973; had a 95 yard kick-off return; named to Outstanding College Athletes 1973.
Inducted into Washington HS Athletic Hall of Fame 2001; served as volunteer coach at Clay HS; involved with Boys and Girls Club, Million Men March, and the South Bend-Mishawaka Leadership Class of 2000; served on board of Hansel Center and Urban League; serves as a deacon at Mt. Carmel U. B. Church.

Coaching Experience: Assistant football coach at Washington HS 1986-1991, working with running backs, defensive backs, linebackers, and receivers at different times; assistant coach at South Bend Clay HS 1992-1995; also served as assistant coach for girls track team 1986-1988 and head coach 1989-1990 at Washington HS.

Coaching Honors: While coaching running backs at Washington, 3 players were named All-Conference, All-State; had privilege of assisting two sons, Carlis, Jr. and Corlan, who both received NIC First Team and All-State Honors and football scholarships for college.
