Served in military during WW II; was on football service team 1943-1945; also played on US Army III Corps basketball and baseball teams.

Coaching Experience: All in Valparaiso Community School - junior high school football, basketball, and track coach 1947-1950; high school football coach 1950-1971; assistant to 5 different coaches in 25 years; also head swimming and baseball coach.
Coaching Honors: Undefeated seasons under head coach Tom Stokes in 1969 and 1970.
