IHSAA awarded him a Certificate of Merit "For Unselfish and Dedicated Contributions to Total Sports Programs in Indiana" in 1966; honored by University of Evansville Alumni Association in 1975 in recognition of his outstanding service and loyalty to the university; selected as Sportswriter of the Year by the Indiana Football Coaches Association 1978; inducted into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame 1983.
